Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an excitation light source apparatus capable of assuring excellent optical transmission characteristics even when gain tilting occurs in an optical fiber transmission relay system that transmits WDM signal lights. [Solution] This excitation light source apparatus is provided with: an excitation light outputting means; a control signal detection means; an excitation light control means; and a synthesizing means. The excitation light outputting means outputs an excitation light for Raman amplification. The control signal detection means detects the control signal of the excitation light outputting means from the WDM signal lights transmitted through incoming and outgoing optical fibers. The excitation light outputting means controls the excitation light outputting means on the basis of the control signal. The synthesizing means synthesizes the excitation light with each of the incoming and outgoing WDM signal lights, and outputs the respective synthesized lights to the incoming and outgoing optical fibers.
