The present invention suppresses failures to detect excreta. This excreta detection device 1 comprises a cup member 10 covering an excretion site, and a controller 80 for detecting excreta excreted into the cup member. The cup member 10 comprises a catching part 11a for catching excreta, and a sensor 15 provided in the catching part 11a. The sensor comprises a first electrode unit 15A comprising a first electrode 16 and a first ground electrode 17, and a second electrode unit 15B comprising a second electrode 18 and a second ground electrode 19. The controller 80 comprises a connector 84 connected to the sensor 15, and a ground wire to which the first ground electrode 17 and the second ground electrode 19 are both connected via the connector 84, and assesses the presence or absence of excreta on the basis of the conduction state between the first electrode 16 and second electrode 18 and the ground wire.
