Abstract:
An exhaust gas analyzing device capable of measuring in real time the concentration of
particulate materials contained in exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine,
comprising an exhaust gas passing hole (21) that admits exhaust gas exhausted from
an internal combustion engine, an optical fiber (25) for applying a laser beam
in a direction perpendicular to an exhaust gas flow running through this exhaust
gas passing hole, a detector (26) receiving a laser beam after passed through
exhaust gas, a photodetector (71) receiving Mie scattering light produced from
particulate materials PM contained in exhaust gas by laser beam irradiation, and
a personal computer (45) as a computing unit for computing the concentrations of
components in exhaust gas based on light reception data on transmitted light intensity
obtained from the detector (26) and also computing the concentrations of particulate
materials contained in exhaust gas based on an actually measured data on scattering
light intensity obtained from the photodetector (71); and an exhaust gas analyzing
method.
