Abstract:

The present disclosure provides an exhaust gas purification catalyst which can exhibit high purification performance during both a low-temperature state that occurs immediately after the starting of an engine and a high-load operating state. The exhaust gas purification catalyst disclosed herein contains at least one noble metal capable of purifying an exhaust gas, and comprises a substrate and a catalyst coating layer formed on a surface of the substrate. The catalyst coating layer is formed in a laminated structure having an under layer arranged on the substrate and an upper layer arranged on the under layer. The under layer contains a noble metal and an oxide capable of storing oxygen. A noble-metal-containing surface layer part containing a noble metal is formed on at least a part of the surface part of the upper layer, and the upper layer does not contain an oxide capable of storing oxygen.
