Abstract:
Even if an EGR valve is opened before an exhaust throttle valve is opened in an exhaust gas purification system for an internal combustion engine, the occurrence of an accidental fire can be prevented. An EGR valve (42) is provided in an EGR passage (41) which connects an exhaust passage (4) and an intake passage (3) which are located upstream of an exhaust throttle valve (11). After the opening degree of the exhaust throttle valve (11) is decreased when the purification ability of an exhaust gas purifier (10) provided upstream of the exhaust throttle valve (11) is recovered and before the opening degree of the exhaust throttle valve (11) is made larger than the decreased opening degree, the EGR valve (42) is opened, and at this time, the timing at which fuel is injected into cylinders (2) is accelerated.
