Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purification system comprising: a first exhaust gas treatment part provided on the upstream side of an exhaust gas passage of an internal combustion engine; and a second exhaust gas treatment part provided on the upstream side of the exhaust gas passage of the internal combustion engine, wherein the catalytic activity of rhodium elements contained in a catalyst layer of the second exhaust gas treatment part can be exhibited efficiently. The present invention provides an exhaust gas purification system (1) for purifying an exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine, the exhaust gas purification system (1) comprising: an exhaust gas passage (2) through which the exhaust gas circulates; a first exhaust gas treatment part (3) provided on the upstream side of the exhaust passage (2); and a second exhaust gas treatment part (4) provided on the downstream side of the exhaust passage (2), wherein a first catalyst layer of the first exhaust gas treatment part (3) contains cerium elements, a percentage of the mass of the cerium elements contained in the first catalyst layer in terms of cerium oxide to the mass of the first catalyst layer is 5.0-13.0 mass%, and a second catalyst layer of the second exhaust gas treatment part (4) contains rhodium elements.
