Abstract:
An exhaust gas purifying device for an engine, with which a sufficient engine output can be obtained while an exhaust gas is reliably purified. An exhaust gas purifying device for an engine (1) includes a catalyst (10) provided in an exhaust pipe (7) connected to an exhaust port of the engine (1), a secondary air introducing pipe (12) connected to a secondary air introducing opening (11) provided more on the upstream side than the catalyst (10) in the exhaust pipe (7) and introducing secondary air into the exhaust pipe (7) according to a negative pressure occurring in the secondary air introducing opening (11), an O2 sensor (14) provided more on the downstream side than the secondary air introducing opening (11) in the exhaust pipe (7) and detecting an oxygen concentration for acquiring an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas passing through the catalyst (10), and a controller (15) for controlling the amount of fuel supplied from a fuel injection valve (3) to the engine (1) such that the air-fuel ratio based on the oxygen concentration detected by the O2 sensor (14) is a target air-fuel ratio. The O2 sensor (14) is installed so as to detect an oxygen concentration in an expansion chamber of a silencer (8).
