Abstract:
An exhaust gas recirculation system for an internal combustion engine in which a mixture of fuel gas and air is compressed by a piston and combusted in a combustion chamber. The mixture gas is supplied to the combustion chamber through an intake pipe, and an exhaust gas produced in the combustion chamber is discharged to the outside of the engine through an exhaust pipe. The exhaust gas recirculation system has an intake supercharger and an EGR supercharger. The intake supercharger has a first compressor placed in the intake pipe and a first turbine placed in the exhaust pipe and driving the first compressor. The first compressor compresses air and supercharges the combustion chamber with the compressed air. The EGR supercharger has a second compressor and a second turbine placed in the exhaust pipe and driving the second compressor. The second compressor compresses exhaust gas and supplies the compressed gas as external EGR gas to the intake pipe through an EGR supply pipe. The EGR supply pipe is connected to the intake pipe, on the upstream side of the first compressor.
