Abstract:
The invention relates to an exhaust muffler mounted on an internal combustion engine in a power chain saw. The inventive muffler consists of a housing (1) comprised of two housing shells (2, 3). One housing shell (2) comprises an exhaust gas inlet (4) and the other housing shell (3) comprises an exhaust gas outlet (5). An inner wall (8) and a catalytic converter element (7), said catalytic converter element being arranged between the exhaust gas inlet (4) and the exhaust gas outlet (5), are provided in the inner space (6) of the muffler housing (1). In order to guarantee an adequate catalytic treatment of the exhaust gases in the instance of low gas counterpressure, the invention provides that the entering exhaust gas stream (10) is divided into partial streams, and at least one of these partial streams (23) is guided such that it is in contact with the catalytic converter element (7), whereby the partial streams (22, 23) are brought together and mixed with one another before leaving the muffler housing (1).
