Abstract:
In an internal combustion engine (1) provided with a turbo-supercharging system, and with a low-pressure EGR passage (14) connecting an exhaust passage (13) situated at the downstream side of a turbine (15a) of the turbo-supercharging system and an air intake passage (12) situated at the upstream side of a compressor (15b) of the turbo-supercharging system, the exhaust passage (13) is equipped with an exhaust pump (20) situated downstream from the turbine (15a) and upstream from the branching point of the low-pressure EGR passage (14), and the low-pressure EGR passage (14) is equipped with an EGR pump (21). In so doing, in the internal combustion engine (1) provided with the turbo-supercharging system and the low-pressure EGR system, rise in pressure of exhaust gases at the outlet of the internal combustion engine (1) is minimized, thereby preventing increased pumping loss, and improving the fuel economy of the internal combustion engine (1).
