Abstract:

Disclosed is an exhaust purifying catalyst which is capable of efficiently removing CO over a wide temperature range including low temperatures. Specifically disclosed is an exhaust purification device for an internal combustion engine, which is characterized by comprising: a CO oxidation catalyst that is arranged in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine and removes CO in the exhaust by oxidation; and an HC adsorbent that adsorbs HC in the exhaust and an NOx adsorbent that adsorbs NOx in the exhaust, said adsorbents being arranged in the upstream of the CO oxidation catalyst in the flow direction of the exhaust sequentially from the upstream side. The exhaust purification device is also characterized in that the CO oxidation catalyst comprises Pd and CeO2, and the amount of supported Pd is within the range of 0.01-5.0% by mass relative to the amount of CeO2.
