Abstract:
An expansion stay capable of locking, at a prescribed aligned position, the inner arm (12) and the outer arm (14) of a stay body (16) having the inner arm (12) and the outer arm (14) to the inner arm is slidably fitted, comprising a lock member (26) having a lockingly engaged part (24) pivotally supported on the inner arm and engaged with the lock hole (22) of the outer arm. The lock member is energized so that the lockingly engaged part is engaged with the lock hole when an extensible arm (10) is extended, the lock hole is set to such a dimension that the locking engagement part can be displaced in an arm extending direction, and the lockingly engaged part comprises a hook (24F) energized to be locked to the edge (22E1) of the lock hole. When the locking engagement part is unlocked, the hook is disengaged from the edge of the lock hole by displacing the inner arm. In the expansion stay (10), since the hook (24F) is engaged with the edge (22E1) of the lock hole (22), the locked state of the lock member (26) can be effectively prevented from being inadvertently released.
