Abstract:
An exposure control method for a digital camera, which can provide a proper exposure amount and a high−accuracy digital camera by performing an exposure control under which an auxiliary light is emitted at automatic focussing to detect the luminance level of an object to be photographed&semi and a device therefor. The device comprises means of detecting an external−light luminance, mean of judging whether an auxiliary light is needed or not based on the detected external−light luminance, means of detecting the luminance level of an object to be photographed within an AE frame under the external−light before emitting an auxiliary light and re−detecting the luminance level of the object within an AF frame under the auxiliary light after emitting the auxiliary light, means of judging whether an exposure amount in an AF frame has greatly increased over that in an AE frame or not, and means of performing an exposure control based on the luminance level within an AE frame when a large increase has been judged in the judging step and performing it based on the luminance level within an AF frame when a large increase has not been judged.
