Abstract:
A system (100) for cleaning includes a handle (100a) and a head (110) having a cleaning surface. The head (110) is connected to the handle (100a) and is extendable to selectively widen or narrow the cleaning surface. A gear (302) is fixedly connected to the handle (100a) and rotatingly connected to the head (110), so that twist of the handle (100a) rotates the gear (302). A first series of extension gears (306a-c) operably connect to the gear (302), and a second series of extension gears (304a-b) also operably connect to the gear (302). Rotation of the gear (302) via the handle (100a), rotates the first series (306a-c) and the second series (304a-b). A first head extension (310) is operably connected to the first series (306a-c), such that rotation of the first series (306a-c) swings the first head extension (310) into laterally aligned extension of the head (310). A second head extension (312) is operably connected to the second series (304a-b), such that rotation of the second series (304a-b) swings the second head extension (312) also into laterally aligned extension of the head (110). In such manner, twist of the handle (100a) rotates the gear (302), causing the first series (306a-c) and the second series (304a-b) to rotate, thereby swinging the first (310) and second head (312) extensions into laterally extended alignment in order to selectively widen (and conversely narrow) the cleaning surface of the head (110).
