Abstract:
Provided is a hollow fiber membrane module in which fouling is less likely to occur on hollow fiber membranes during a filtering operation and which has excellent washability for the hollow fiber membranes. In this external-pressure-type hollow fiber membrane module, a first end side or a second end side of each of multiple hollow fiber membrane bundles 60 are fixed, by an adhesive, together with an inner wall surface of a tubular housing 10 or with inner wall surfaces of caps. The section, on the first end side, fixed by the adhesive has multiple raw-water-introduction holes 65 formed by penetration in the thickness direction. The multiple raw-water-introduction holes 65 include: first group raw-water-introduction holes 66 which are formed at positions including the centers of the respective multiple hollow fiber membrane bundles 60; and second group raw-water-introduction holes 67 which are formed between the respective adjacent multiple hollow fiber membrane bundles 60 and between the multiple hollow fiber membrane bundles 60 and the inner wall surface of the tubular housing 10.
