Abstract:
To provide an external pressure-type hollow-fiber membrane module that, during filtration operations, is less likely to cause fouling to the hollow-fiber membrane and exhibits excellent performance in cleaning of the hollow-fiber membrane. This external pressure-type hollow-fiber membrane module has a water collection pipe 12 and a hollow-fiber membrane bundle 13 housed inside a cylindrical case housing 11, wherein: the hollow-fiber membrane bundle 13 has a filling rate of 40-70%; an end of the cylindrical case housing 11 is covered with a second cap 50 having a first liquid outlet 51 and a second liquid outlet 52; and one of the first liquid outlet 51 and the second liquid outlet 52 is connected, via a connection pipe 70, to an opening of the water collection pipe 12 on the side of the second cap 50.
