Abstract:
Provided is a technique for using an image, captured by a low-sampling-frequency camera, to estimate position/size information for a pupil or iris at more precise units of time than at an actual sampling frequency. The present invention comprises: a profile-determining information acquiring unit for acquiring, from a captured image of an eyeball of a subject, coordinates for two points P1, P2 corresponding to the outer edge of the pupil or iris on a prescribed line in the image, the length of the major axis of an ellipse where the pupil or iris is assumed to have the shape of said ellipse, and eyeball center of rotation coordinates for a three-dimensional eyeball rotation system by which the pupil or iris is bound; and an eye information calculating unit for calculating, from the coordinates for points P1, P2, the tangent slope of the ellipse at points P1, P2, the major axis length, the eyeball center of rotation coordinates, and the eyeball radius of rotation in the three-dimensional eyeball rotation system, an elliptical profile including the center coordinates and deflection angle of an ellipse representing the position of the pupil or iris, and the lengths of the major and minor axes of an ellipse representing the size of the pupil or iris.
