Description:
EYESHADOW COMPACT WITH APPLICATOR FOR DEPOSITING AT LEAST TWO PRODUCT COLOURS ON THE EYELIDS

The present invention relates to an eyeshadow compact in accordance with the introduction to the main claim. Eyeshadow is deposited either on the user's upper eyelid alone or also on the lower eyelid. Various applicators are known mainly enabling the eyeshadow to be deposited on the upper eyelid, however only a few are able to deposit the eyeshadow (in a single colour or in different colours) on both the lower and upper eyelid. With reference to these latter, such applicators are generally of pad type and enable the eyeshadow to be applied by pressing their applying surface to the user's eyelids. However this method of application can result in incorrect product deposition on the eyelids because of the need to press the applicator surface onto them: this pressure may be non-uniform on the two eyelids or parts thereof, leading to a greater or lesser product deposition on the eyelids. Moreover because of the shape of the eye (i.e. the different convexity and concavity of the lower and upper eyelids), applying the eyeshadow may require a number of successive operations, which may result in non- uniformity of the eyeshadow deposition because of the manner in which the deposition is achieved. In addition, known applicators do not enable eyeshadow to be adequately deposited on the eyelids if, after an initial unsatisfactory application, the user desires to make a new eyeshadow deposition on the eyelids. An object of the invention is therefore to provide an eyeshadow compact which is improved compared with known compacts. A particular object of the invention is to provide an eyeshadow compact which enables product to be uniformly deposited on the user's eyelids. Another object is to provide an eyeshadow compact which allows uniform removal of product from a corresponding receptacle. A further object is to provide an eyeshadow compact which enables product to be reliably deposited after an initial unsatisfactory or interrupted application of product to the user's eyelids. Another object is to provide an eyeshadow compact which enables product to be easily and quickly deposited on both eyelids simultaneously. A further object is to provide an eyeshadow compact which enables product to be deposited uniformly on the eyelids independently of any shape difference thereof. These and other objects which will be apparent to the expert of the art are attained by an eyeshadow compact in accordance with the accompanying claims. The invention will be more apparent from the accompanying drawing, which is provided by way of non-limiting example and in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of an eyeshadow compact of the invention in the closed position; Figure 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Figure 1 ; Figure 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Figure 1 ; Figure 4 is a section on the line 4-4 of Figure 1; Figure 5 is a perspective view of the compact of Figure 1 in the open position; Figure 6 is a section on the line 6-6 of Figure 5; Figure 7 is an exploded view of part of the applicator of the compact of Figure 1; Figure 8 is an exploded view of the applicator of Figure 6; Figures 9, 10 and 11 show various steps in applying eyeshadow to the user's eyelids. With reference to said figures, the invention comprises a box container 1 presenting a containing portion 2 on which a closure element 3 is movable, for example hinged along a long side 4 of the portion 2. This portion comprises another long side 5 and opposing short sides 6 and 7, said portion hence being of rectangular cross-section. The containing portion 2 presents an inner cavity 10 bounded by the said sides 4, 5, 6 and 7. The cavity 10 is divided substantially into two parts, a part 12 acting as a container or receptacle for the eyeshadow and a part 13 acting as the seat for an eyeshadow applicator 14 for depositing the eyeshadow onto the lower eyelid 15 and onto the upper eyelid 16 of a user's eye 17. The eyeshadow part or receptacle 12 can also preferably contain different eyeshadow colours: Figures 4, 5 and 6 schematically show two eyeshadow portions 19 and 20 arranged longitudinally within the receptacle 12, i.e. parallel to the longitudinal axis W of the containing portion 2, and parallel to each other. Above the receptacle 12 and seat 13 there is a flat element 22 presenting a slot 24 positioned along the axis W of said portion 2. This slot 24 lies substantially (and preferably) above adjacent ends 19A and 2OA of said portions 19 and 20, and acts as a means for guiding the movement and the sliding of the applicator 14 above and in contact with said portions 19 and 20. These latter can be of identical or different transverse extension within the receptacle 12. The joining line between them (defined by their ends 19A and 20A) can be parallel, slightly diagonal or irregular with respect to the axis W of the portion 2 so that when the applicator 14 withdraws the eyeshadow, the product is automatically deposited on said applicator with a central graduation corresponding to the passage region between the different colours. This graduation is then deposited automatically onto the user's eyelids to give continuity between the product present on the lower eyelid 15 and that on the upper eyelid 16. The applicator 14 comprises a depositing element 30 for contacting the eyelids 15 and 16 of the eye 17 to uniformly deposit thereon the eyeshadow withdrawn from the receptacle 12 by sliding a free surface 31 of the element 30 along said eyeshadow portions 19 and 20. This withdrawal and sliding movement enables a uniform layer of eyeshadow to be deposited onto said element 30, to be then transferred to the eyelids 15 and 16. The depositing element presents a preferably curved surface 31, advantageously defined by two parts 32 and 33 of different radii to adapt to the different concavity and convexity of the eyelids 15 and 16. However this surface can evidently be of another shape provided it enables the eyeshadow to be deposited onto the eyelids. The element 30 is made of any soft yieldable eyeshadow absorbent or non-absorbent material. The element 30 is associated with a rigid support 34 presenting a handgrip 35 which projects above the flat element 22 from the slot 24 and enables the user to grip the applicator 14 and slide it along the eyeshadow portions 19 and 20 and along the eye 17 (with the depositing element 30 in contact with the eyelids 15 and 16). The handgrip 35 is fixed to a support part 38 for said element 30, which is secured thereto in any known manner, for example glued. The seat 13 for the applicator 14 opens at 13A into the side 6 of the containing portion 2, from which the applicator can always be extracted, for example by sliding the handgrip 35 along the slot 24. The aperture 13A is closed by a part 3A of the closure element 3 when this latter closes the portion 2. The handgrip 35 of the applicator 14 then becomes positioned within a slit 50 in the element 3 and projects from it. In use, the applicator 14 is slid along the slot 24 to uniformly remove eyeshadow from the receptacle 12. To ensure sliding contact between the depositing element 30 and the eyeshadow portions 19 and 20, the base 13K of the seat 13 for the applicator 14 lies in a plane more distant from the element 22 than that in which the free surfaces of the eyeshadow portions 19 and 20 lie. In reaching these portions by moving along the slot 24, the depositing element of the applicator 14 slides on an inclined surface 13Z of said seat 13 until it penetrates into the receptacle 12 in a compressed state by virtue of said inclined surface. When on the eyeshadow 19 and 20, the element 30 tends to expand by the elasticity of its constituent material and hence rubs against the eyeshadow portions 19 and 20, to remove the product. On reaching the end of the slot 24 (closed at an end 24K), the applicator 14 is returned to its seat 13, from which it is extracted via the aperture 13A. The applicator is brought up to the eye 17 and the depositing element 30 is slid along the eyelids 15 and 16 to uniformly and continuously deposit eyeshadow on them without any pressure on the eye. This deposition takes place automatically and uniformly onto the lower and upper eyelids, in an extremely simple manner without risk of creating greater or lesser deposition regions and without exerting any pressure (which could be harmful) on the eye. If deposition were to be interrupted, it can be continued from the point of interruption easily and without any differential eyeshadow accumulation along the eyelids. The eyeshadow colours or portions within the receptacle 12 could also be more than two in number (as described and shown in the figures).
