It is possible to prevent spoofing as an unauthorized user by an unauthorized user and guarantee a safe terminal use. Upon face authentication, an instruction for a user to input a pattern via key operation is displayed on a presentation pattern display unit (5) arranged at a different position from a key input unit. A built-in camera (1) images a motion of user's face or a part of his/her face during the entire time or a part of time from the moment when the instruction is displayed on the presentation pattern display unit (5) until the moment when input from the key input unit (10) is completed, so as to judge whether the captured face image is a biological face.
