Abstract:
A face orientation estimation device (KS) comprises: an imaging unit (SE) which captures an image (GZ) of an occupant (JI) in a vehicle; a first calculation unit (SS1) which calculates, on the basis of the image (GZ) of the occupant (JI), a first distance (KR1) between the eyes of the occupant (JI); an inference unit (SR) which infers, on the basis of the image (GZ) of the occupant (JI), the position of the nose (HN) of the occupant (JI) by referring to a trained model (GM) that has been trained on a relationship between a plurality of images (GZ) in which a person for whom the position of the nose (HN) is difficult to visually recognize is imaged and the position of the nose (HN) of the person; a second calculation unit (SS2) which calculates a second distance (KR2) between the inferred position of the nose (HN) of the occupant (JI) and the center point between the eyes of the occupant (JI); a third calculation unit (SS3) which calculates a ratio (HI) of the first distance (KR1) calculated by the first calculation unit (SS1) and the second distance (KR2) calculated by the second calculation unit (SS2); a comparison unit (HK) which compares the ratio (HI) calculated by the third calculation unit (SS3) with a preset reference value (KJ); and an estimation unit (ST) which estimates, on the basis of the comparison result from the comparison unit (HK), the correctness of the position of the nose (HN) of the occupant (JI) as inferred by the inference unit (SR).
