Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a facial recognition method and system. The method comprises: extracting a to-be-recognized facial feature from a collected facial image, and detecting whether an obstruction blocking a face exists in the collected facial image according to the to-be-recognized facial feature; when an obstruction exists in the collected facial image, extracting an obstruction image from the facial image having the obstruction; and determining whether a matching reference facial image exists in a facial image database, wherein if yes, facial recognition succeeds; and if not, facial recognition fails. A reference facial feature extracted from the matching reference facial image having the extracted obstruction image added thereto matches the to-be-recognized facial feature. By means of the facial recognition method in the embodiments of the present invention, a facial image having an obstruction on a face is accurately recognized, and accuracy of facial recognition is improved.
