Abstract:
A failure diagnosis method for an engine starting system 1 in which a starting electricity-storage device 11 supplying electric power to a starter 10 and an accessory electricity-storage device 12 are connected in parallel. The failure diagnosis method comprises: a first detection step (S102) of opening a first relay 20 during discharging of the starting electricity-storage device 11, and detecting an electric current direction using a detection unit 19 in a state in which a second relay 23 is closed; and a determination step (S103) of determining a failure of the first relay 20 on the basis of the result of detection in the first detection step.
