Abstract:
A failure sign detection device 40 is provided with: an issuing unit 41 that issues an access request for inspection of a storage device 50 at a prescribed first timing, and also at a second timing later than the first timing; a collection unit 42 that, for each access request for inspection, collects information representing the operating characteristics for a time when the storage device 50 operates, the information being collected in accordance with the access request for inspection; a storage unit 43 that stores first operating characteristic information representing operating characteristics at the first timing, and second operating characteristic information representing operating characteristics at the second timing; and a generation unit 44 that determines the difference between the first operating characteristic information and the second operating characteristic information to thereby generate degradation information representing the state of degradation of the storage device 50. The failure sign detection device 40 thereby detects signs of failure with high accuracy before the storage device fails.
