Abstract:
A fall-arresting safety apparatus for use with a stationary or movable fastening point. The apparatus (1, 1') comprises a pair of rigidly connected spaced-apart shells (6) with a flange (5) and a pulley (4) rotatably mounted on the facing surfaces thereof via a common shaft (7), each flange being movable between at least two operative positions in which at least two abutment portions (13, 11) operate together to brake and stop a flexible linkage (3), and an inoperative position in which the flexible linkage is slidable through a channel (8) in the pulley. The apparatus is particularly useful for work in an elevated position or on sloping surfaces and enables workers or loads to be raised or lowered along a flexible linkage.
