Abstract:
Provided are: a fall prevention device capable of being easily mounted between the upper surface of an article and a ceiling; and a method for mounting the fall prevention device.
A fall prevention device (1) is provided with a damper (10). The damper (10) is mounted between the upper surface of a piece of furniture (F)(article) installed on an installation surface and a ceiling (C). The damper (10) has a cylinder (11) and a piston (14). Hydraulic oil (operating liquid) and compressed gas are sealed within the cylinder (11). The piston (14) is accommodated in a slidable manner within the cylinder (11). During the mounting of the damper (10) between the upper surface of the piece of furniture (F) and the ceiling (C), the piston (14) is located in the compressed gas sealed above the hydraulic oil. The piston (14) can move into the hydraulic oil when the piece of furniture (F) tilts to retract the damper (10) a predetermined length.
