Abstract:
Conventional heart-lung machines, have been used in order to circulate blood, in absence, malfunction or misfunction of heart and/or lung. Connecting these devices, however, needs surgical procedures which is time-consuming and makes them difficult to be utilized in ECPR. By the method presented in this invention it will be possible to rapidly connect extracorporeal heart machines to the main blood vessels specially when they are barely achievable simply by penetration from the skin without need of surgical cuts if the operator is professional enough. This invention makes it possible to quickly connect heart-lung machines to a cardiac arrested patient who is considered as deceased. As a result, there would be time to heal or transplant the heart while the patient has been returned to life. The advantage of this invention could also be used in transplantation of organs when quick connection between vessels and extracorporeal tubes is essential.
