Abstract:
A fault location device is provided with Rogowski coils (1a, 1b), band-pass filter circuits (4a, 4b) for allowing only surge-waveform frequency components to pass, detection level signal generation circuits (5a, 5b) for generating detection level signals for surge signals, comparator circuits (6a, 6b) for respectively comparing the output signals from the band-pass filter circuits (4a, 4b) and the detection level signals output by the detection level signal generation circuits (5a, 5b) and outputting a pulse signal only if the amplitude of an output signal is equal to or greater than the amplitude of a detection level signal, a time difference detection unit (40) for calculating the time difference between the starting points of the pulse signals output by the comparator circuits (6a, 6b), and a fault-location unit (41) for locating a fault on the basis of the time difference.
