Title:
FBG OSCILLATION DETECTION SYSTEM, DEVICE AND OSCILLATION DETECTION METHOD EMPLOYING THE SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/115204
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Whereas an ultrasound or AE oscillation detection device employing Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) is employed in detecting elastic waves in material impacts or ultrasound damage detection, the problem of ultrasound detection being impossible, or performance thereof degrading, arises, in environments incurring changes in temperature or deformation, and to solve the problem, disclosed is an oscillation detection device that is compact and highly sensitive. Using a fiber-optic laser, FBG reflected light is lased, and ultrasound or other oscillations are detected by converting the reflected light intensity from the lased FBG to an electrical signal. An oscillation detection system comprises an optical amplifier (42), an optical circulator (43), and an optical coupler (45). An FBG (44) and a light input/light output port of the optical circulator are connected with fiber-optic cable, and the optical coupler and the optical amplifier are inserted between the light input port and the light output port of the optical circulator and are connected with fiber-optic cable.
