Abstract:
A felt sewing machine where a finger tip is prevented from touching a dedicated needle to secure safety in handling and where the dedicated needle can be correctly inserted into a felt surface so that no skill is required for operation. To use the felt sewing machine, felt sheets superposed over each other are inserted up to a position through which a piecing section of the dedicated needle penetrates, and, when the dedicated needle is returned to a waiting position, the piercing section tangles fibers of the felt to join the felt sheets. The felt sewing machine has a base (2) having a placement surface (2a) on which felt sheets superposed over each other are placed, a lower guidance member (15) provided on the placement surface and in which a through-hole section through which a dedicated needle passes is formed, left and right cover members (4, 5) fixed to the base (2) so as to straddle the placement surface (2a), an upper guidance member surrounding the dedicated needle and fixed to the left and right cover members (4, 5) such that the gap between the upper guidance member, having an opening for passing the dedicated needle, and the lower guidance member is substantially the same as the thickness of the superposed felt sheets, and lever members (6, 6) for vertically driving the dedicated needle between the insertion position and the waiting position.
