Title:
FEMALE BREAST AND CHEST PROTECTION ARMOUR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2022/150867
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A breast and chest protection armour shaped to the contours of the breast and below the sternum, to protect breast tissue, chest and sternum from any impact injuries caused due to collision with another athlete or person, an object or fall in itself. The breast and sternum protection armour is made out of PU-foam due to its multi-impact compliant. The body armour reacts promptly and without any time delay even to minor impacts. The energy absorption goes almost linear, which keeps the impact forces to the human body at a low level.

CLAIMS

1. Stephanie Bofinger from Fempro Armour Pty Ltd. invented the breast and chest shaped body protection armour that incases the breast and sternum area to reduce the impact of breast injuries within females during sporting accidents when experiencing impact with an athlete, another object or whilst falling.

2. Currently statistics claim that 36% females’ athletes experience breast injuries during activities, and 21% of those say that their injuries hinder their performance. Our invention breast and chest armour out of iscoelastic foam will reduce this number significantly due to its shape and foam properties.

3. The breast and chest shaped protection armour is made out of Isoelastic foam that gets hard on impact, reducing the risk of injuries to the breast and chest area compare to the hard plastic armour that is available currently.

4. The isoelastic foam will act as a cushion for the breast tissue and chest area by hardening on impact and becoming soft straight after, so long lifespan and multiple usage will occur.

5. The breast shaped and chest protection armour is smooth and soft to wear, so athletes won’t even noticed the armour much. The armour will form to the person breast and chest area the warmer it gets.

6. The female breast and chest protective armour will make females look more feminine, not like the armour currently available on the market.

7. Females with breast implants that participate in extreme sports and the foam will protect the breast implant so tearing or rupturing on impact will be minimized.

Description:
FEMALE BREAST AND CHEST PROTECTION ARMOUR

FIELD OF USE THE INVENTION

[001] Any female sports where impact injuries can occur due to collision with another athlete or person, an object or fall in itself e.g., horse riding, motorcycling, martial arts, boxing, roller derby.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[002] The present invention relates to female chest and chest protection armour by providing a protection solution to the female’s breast and sternum area, which is worn whilst participating in sports or recreational activities. This invention was established by Stephanie Bofinger when she rode through the Simpson

Desert/ Australia in September 2019 after watching many females struggling with their body armour. Stephanie saw a need for correct body armour for females as the current models are designed for males with a straight hard plastic chest piece. In November 2019, Stephanie started her journey in designing a specific breast and chest armour that surrounds the whole breast and chest and sternum area to minimize impact injuries to any females whilst wearing the iscoelastic foam armour. Females need correct chest protection that is designed around the breast area and sternum. Chest armour that surrounds the breast area can minimized injuries to females due to collision with another athlete or person, an object or fall in itself

SUMMARY AND EFFECT OF THE INVENTION

[003] The present invention is different to other protective armour currently available on the market due to is breast shaped, one full chest piece and the isoelastic foam with memory effect that has been used to create this invention.

[003a] Currently female breast protection is made out of hard plastic that doesn’t give adequate protection to any female breast, chest and sternum area, due to it flat plastic component. Our breast and chest protection armour encase the complete breast and the sternum and lower area of the breast.

Unlike many other dampening materials (such as Styrofoam (EPS), silicone or foam of inferior quality) our breast and sternum protection armour is made out of PU-foam due to its multi-impact compliant. Thus, impacts or high pressure do not destroy the protector even when the same area is affected repeatedly. The protector keeps its full functional capability. The CE-approved protectors remain up to 50 per cent below the legal values of the norm EN 1621. Contrary to hard shell protectors currently on the market, Styrofoam damper or many other dampening materials, our body armour foam reacts promptly and without any time delay even to minor impacts. The energy absorption goes almost linear, which keeps the impact forces to the human body at a low level.

[003b] Currently the available body protection armour that is on the market is designed for male athletes/participants which has no formed or hollow application around the chest area due its straight plastic and foam application. Females breast cannot fit anywhere and needs to being squashed down whilst participating in sports. Injuries from impact to breast area can be painful, swelling, bruising and having benign lumps also known as (fat necrosis). Injuries such as this may have potentially contributor to cancers showing up for many years later.

[003c] The enclosed drawing in this application will show the detail of the female breast and chest protective armour chest piece. The dimensions of the above invention are

• approximately 320cm in height with approximately 352mm in width and about

30mm in thickness with 352g and 525g in weight,

This invention will also come in two sizes such as

• A-C cup for small to medium breast cup and

• C-E for medium to large breast cup.

Air vents have been applied to the lower and side section for cooling effects. Our breast and chest protection armour will also be impacted tested with the relevant testing qualification for each extreme sport.
