Abstract:
A female type joint member for pipe joints, comprising an on-off valve installed in a fluid passage and divided into a first side for connecting the fluid passage to a fluid conduit and a second side for connecting a male type joint member, and movable between an open position establishing communication between the first and second sides and a closed position for interrupting the communication, and a purge flow passage adapted to communicate the second side of the fluid passage to the outside of the pipe joint when the on-off valve is in the closed position and to interrupt the communication between the second side and the outside when the on-off valve is in the open position. The construction of the purge mechanism that releases the fluid pressure remaining in the fluid passage when the on-off valve is brought to the closed position is simplified.
