Title:
FERRITIC STAINLESS STEEL AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/103565
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a Cu-containing ferritic stainless steel which has satisfactory corrosion resistance and which, when brazed at a high temperature using an Ni-containing brazing material, has satisfactory brazability. The present invention is characterized in that the steel has a composition which contains, in terms of mass%, 0.003-0.025% C, 0.05-1.00% Si, 0.05-1.00% Mn, up to 0.04% P, up to 0.01% S, 16.0-23.0% Cr, 0.20-0.80% Cu, 0.05-0.60% Ni, 0.20-0.70% Nb, and 0.005-0.020% N, with the remainder comprising Fe and unavoidable impurities, and that a nitrogen-enriched layer has been formed so that the peak value for nitrogen concentration in the part ranging from the surface to a depth of 0.05 µm is 0.03-0.30 mass%.
