FERROELECTRIC GLASS COMPOSITION AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

Abstract:
A glass composition characterized in that in oxide form, BaO, SrO, TiO2, SiO2 and Al2O3 are contained and when the respective contents are expressed in terms of molecular concentration ratio, BaO+SrO+TiO2=0.2 to 0.8, SiO2=0.1 to 0.6 and Al2O3=0.05 to 0.25, provided that when the total amount of SrO and BaO is 1, (1-x)BaO+xSrO=1 in which x=0.1 to 0.7, and in that the Curie temperature thereof is in the range of -100 to 80°C. There is further provided a process for producing a ferroelectric glass composition as mentioned above, comprising, with the use of AlF3 as a raw material becoming Al2O3 in the glass composition, melting raw material powder at 1300 to 1400°C, quenching so as to obtain glass powder and firing the same at 900 to 1200°C. Thus, a ferroelectric glass composition capable of being fired at low temperature and facilitating control of Curie temperature for use in capacitor devices with capacity variable depending on applied voltage and a process for producing the same can be made available.
