Abstract:

Provided is a ferrofluid seal-equipped bearing that provides stable sealing performance in a gap portion. The ferrofluid seal-equipped bearing 1 comprises: an inner race 3 and an outer race 5 formed from a magnetic material; a plurality of rolling elements 7 interposed between the inner race and the outer race; a ring-shaped electrode plate 30 that is mounted on the inner peripheral surface of the outer race so that a gap occurs between the outer peripheral surface of the inner race and said electrode plate, and that is formed from a magnetic material; a ring-shaped magnet 20 that is attached to the inside surface of the ring-shaped electrode plate in the axial direction, and that is magnetized so that the magnetic poles are oriented in the axial direction, thereby forming a magnetic circuit on each of the outer race side and the inner race side; an inner race-side ferrofluid 25 that is retained by the magnetic circuit on the inner race side and seals the gap; and a magnetic field strength-improving part 50 that increases the magnetic field strength of the magnetic circuit produced on the inner race side to a higher level than the magnetic field strength of the magnetic circuit produced on the outer race side.
