Abstract:

[Problem] To form a ferrule body and a lens array as separate bodies, make it possible to omit a polishing step, and simplify the manufacturing procedure. [Solution] This ferrule structure is provided with: a ferrule body having a guide hole for inserting a guide pin, a fiber hole for inserting an optical fiber, and an opening surface on which the fiber hole opens; and a lens plate having a guide hole for inserting the guide pin, a lens unit, and an abutment surface for abutting the end surface of the optical fiber. A recess is formed on the ferrule body and/or the lens plate. The recess forms a gap, which serves as a matching agent filling part to be filled with a refractive index matching agent, between the opening surface of the ferrule body and the abutment surface of the lens plate.
