Abstract:
A fiber&sol rubber composite which is suitable for use as, e.g., a belt in various industrial fields. It comprises fibers and a rubber tenaciously adherent thereto, undergoes no decrease in adhesive strength between the fibers and the rubber even when used at a high temperature for long, and has excellent wearing resistance. Also provided are rubber−impregnated fibers (I) which comprise fibers and, adherent thereto, a rubber ingredient (a) comprising at least 30 wt.% carboxylated nitrile rubber (a−1) containing carboxy groups in an amount of 1x10−3 to 5x10−1 mole equivalents per 100g, an iodine value of 100 or lower, and a content of units derived from an &agr ,ß−ethylenically unsaturated nitrile monomer of 10 to 60 wt.%, a vulcanizer (b), and a divalent−metal compound (c). The fiber&sol rubber composite is obtained by superposing a rubber base (II) comprising a rubber vulcanizable with the vulcanizer (b) on the rubber−impregnated fibers (I) and vulcanizing the assemblage.
