Abstract:
Provided is a field angle control panel (2), which includes two opposed substrates
(4 and 6), and a liquid crystal layer (5) interposed between those substrates,
so that it is combined with a display panel (10) to constitute a liquid crystal
display device (1) capable of switching field angle characteristics. One substrate
(6) is provided with an opposed electrode pattern (62) having an opposed electrode
made solid, and the other substrate (4) is provided with a transparent electrode
pattern (49) having transparent electrodes (49a - 49d) formed in a stripe shape.
First and second wiring electrodes (e.g., 48a and 48b) parallel to the transparent
electrodes (49a - 49d) are formed to correspond to and overlap the gaps (e.g.,
51x) of the transparent electrodes in the transparent electrode pattern (49).
According to the constitution described, the vision limiting direction can
be switched by changing the potential setting of individual wiring electrodes
(48a - 48f).
