Abstract:
A filament for reinforcing rubber excellent in corrosion resistance which has a raw steel filament and, formed on the surface thereof, a coating layer containing Cu and Zn, wherein with respect to a section vertical to the longitudinal direction of the above filament, the sum of the length in the peripheral direction of the parts of the raw steel filament having a coating layer thickness of 0.1 μm or more accounts for 50 % or more of the total length in the peripheral direction of the raw steel filament, and wherein with respect to the above peripheral region, (1) the average Cu content of the depth direction region from the outermost surface of the coating layer to a position having a depth of 0.01 μm is 50 to 95 mass %, and also (2) the average Zn content in the depth direction region from a position having a depth of 0.1 μm to the outermost surface of the raw steel filament is 60 mass % or more.
