Abstract:
The present invention relates to a filler for liquid chromatography, which contains particles of a copolymer having monomer units derived from a (meth)acrylic ester and monomer units derived from divinylbenzene, and which is characterized in that the ratio of monomer units derived from the (meth)acrylic ester : monomer units derived from the divinylbenzene is 70-90 mass% : 30-10 mass%, sulfo groups are bonded at particle surfaces, a structure represented by formula (1) (in the formula, R denotes a partial structure derived from the surface of a copolymer particle, X denotes an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, and n is an integer between 2 and 4) is contained as a sulfo group-bonded structure, and sulfo groups are contained at a quantity of 40-300 μmol/g in the particles. The present invention also relates to a column that uses this filler. The column can be advantageously used to analyze proteins, amino acids, and the like, and can be efficiently produced.
