Abstract:
The problem addressed by the present invention is to provide a filler that is suitable for use as a filler for size exclusion chromatography for fractionation requiring large volume processing, that can be manufactured by simple steps, and that has little pressure loss in a column even with a small particle size, and a method for manufacturing that filler. In the present invention, the filler for size exclusion chromatography is obtained by a manufacturing step that includes: a step for polymerization of glycerin-1,3-dimethacrylate and glycidyl methacrylate in the presence of a polymerization initiator; a step for hydrophilizing porous particles formed from the resultant polymer using sugar alcohol; and a step for ring-opening of the remaining glycidyl groups by mineral acid.
