Disclosed is a film fitting device which can smoothly and reliably fit a tight cylindrical film, even if the object to which the cylindrical film is to be fitted is formed with radially outward-projecting ridges or protrusions on the outer surface thereof. A cylindrical film (F) is fitted to a container (B), which is conveyed to a film fitting location (α), by sequentially sending the cylindrical film (F), which has an opening shaped to a predetermined size by a mandrel (30), from the mandrel (30) by an upstream-side shot roller (51) and a downstream-side shot roller (52). After the upstream-side shot roller (51) and the downstream-side shot roller (52) are driven and a predetermined portion of the cylindrical film (F) is sandwiched in the space between the mandrel (30), the side of the cylindrical film (F) which is downstream of the conveyance direction of the container (B) is held in a downwards-tilting state by driving only the downstream-side shot roller (52), and when the cylindrical film (F) is covering the container (B), the circumferential speed of the upstream-side shot roller (51) is made quicker than the circumferential speed of the downstream-side shot roller (52).
