Abstract:
Provided are: a film for producing an optical film, which can give an optical film which exhibits excellent optical performance and in which an increase in stretching temperature is suppressed in a case where an optical film having a similar shrinkage stress is produced; a method for producing an optical film using this type of film for producing an optical film; and an optical film. The present invention is a film for producing an optical film, which contains a poly(vinyl alcohol) having a silicon-containing group and an ethylene unit. The silicon-containing group is a silanol group or a group that can be converted into a silanol group in the presence of water. The content of the silicon-containing group is 0.01-1.0 mol% and the content of the ethylene unit is 0.5-10 mol%, each relative to the total amount of structural units in the poly(vinyl alcohol).
