Disclosed is a method for producing film with sufficient prevention of surface hardening in the width direction end of a cast film but with no point damage caused by dispersal of anti-hardening fluid, whereby film can be produced continuously over a relatively long period. When the aforementioned production method discharges a solution that contains polymer material from a discharge outlet (23) provided at the lower part of a die (2) on to a continuously moving support body to form a casting ribbon (21) between the die (2) and a support body (1) and to form a cast film on the support body (1), said production method supplies anti-hardening fluid (20) at a position (A) above the end of the width direction (E) of the discharge outlet (23) on the external surface of the die (2a) whereby the supplied anti-hardening fluid (20) is made to flow down the external surface of the die to supply the anti-hardening fluid (20) to the end of the width direction of the casting ribbon (21). The production method is characterized by roughening of the surface of the flow path (25) for the anti-hardening fluid on the external surface of the die.
