Provided is a filter device configured such that: air accumulated within the filter device can be discharged; and the outflow of liquid to the outside from an air vent hole and the back flow of air from the air vent hole can be prevented. An air vent hole has: a substantially circular column-shaped hole body section; a first hole section formed above the hole body section; and a second hole section formed below the hole body section. The first hole section and the second hole section have portions, the cross-sections of which, taken substantially perpendicular to a first direction which is the longitudinal direction of the hole body section, have a smaller area than the cross-section of the hole body section, which is taken substantially perpendicular to the first direction of the hole body section. A float inserted in the air vent hole is movable between a position at which the float closes the first hole section and a position at which the float closes the second hole section. The float closes the first hole section by its own weight and is pushed up by air. Also, the float is formed from a material having lower specific gravity than liquid to be filtered, and therefore the float is pushed up by the liquid to close the first hole section.
