Title:
FILTER FAILURE DETECTION DEVICE, AND PARTICULATE MATTER DETECTION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/052734
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
When a DPF is the filter serving as criterion for failure assessment, a control unit (6) estimates the output value of a PM sensor situated downstream from the DPF (S2), and decides whether the estimated output value exceeds a prescribed value (S3). When the prescribed value has been exceeded (S3: YES), the control unit detects the output value of the PM sensor (S4), and then heats the PM sensor with a heater (S5). Further, the control unit detects the output value of the PM sensor warmed by heating (S6), calculates the rate of change of the output value before and after heating (S7), and on the basis of the rate of change obtained thereby, estimates the average particle diameter of the PM (S8), and corrects the sensor output on the basis of the average particle diameter (S9). On the basis of a comparison of the corrected sensor output and a threshold value, the control unit determines whether there is a failure of the DPF (S10-S12).
