There is demand for reducing the amount of overlapping parts of nonwoven fabric for a filter member and thus increasing the life. The present invention addresses this by providing a filter member that is obtained by forming cylindrical nonwoven fabric having a center axis with a plurality of polygonal cross-sections of the same shape being formed arranged along that center axis at prescribed intervals, wherein: in each of the polygons, each side is formed by a mountain fold part on a plane perpendicular to the center axis; in the plurality of polygonal cross-sections, each vertex of one polygon is connected by a mountain fold part with each vertex of another polygon in polygons that are adjacent to each other; a valley fold part is formed between adjacent mountain fold parts of the mountain fold parts connecting the vertices of one polygon with the vertices of another polygon, and the mountain fold part and the valley fold part are connected at one vertex in one polygon and said valley fold part is connected to a vertex adjacent to a vertex in the other polygon to which said mountain fold part is connected; and the valley fold parts are formed at an inclination to the center axis.
