Abstract:
Provided is a cleaning method that is efficient and contributes to improving the productivity of filtration membranes that are used when, in a step for purifying scandium components, which are valuable metals, from an acidic solution comprising scandium and iron and containing impurities such as aluminum, chromium, and manganese as ions, the acidic solution is neutralized and solids are separated from the liquid. In a step for obtaining a solution containing valuable metal ions by adding alkali to an acidic solution, comprising valuable metal ions and iron ions and containing impurity element ions, to generate iron hydroxide solids and obtain a slurry containing the valuable metal ions, iron hydroxide, and impurity element ions, and then separating the solids from the liquid, a filtration membrane cleaning method is provided characterized in that: the valuable metal ions are scandium ions; the solid-liquid separation is a solid-liquid separation process that results from filtering the solution with a filtration membrane; and the operation of cleaning the filtration membrane is accomplished by a procedure of a water-rinsing step (1), an alkali-rinsing step (2), and an acid-rinsing step (3) at least after the solid-liquid separation process or during separation.
