Abstract:
An objective of the present invention is to assess whether a finger is properly placed in a prescribed location, and to notify a user in the event of improper placement. A finger vein authentication system comprises: a sensor which reads finger information as an image; an authentication means for carrying out finger authentication using the image information which is read from the sensor; and a finger location appropriateness assessment means for sensing whether the finger is properly placed on the sensor based on whether a region having saturated pixel values of the image information which is read from the sensor is present.
