Claims:
WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:

1. A fire initiator comprising:

(a) a substrate including:

(i) at least one fire enhancer; and

(ii) at least one fire controller.

2. The fire initiator of claim 1, wherein said substrate is substantially constructed of a non-woven material.

3. The fire initiator of claim 1, wherein said substrate is substantially constructed of a woven material.

4. The fire initiator of claim 1, wherein said fire enhancer includes a substantially combustible hydrocarbon.

5. The fire initiator of claim 1, wherein said fire enhancer includes a Kerosene.

6. The fire initiator of claim 1, wherein said fire controller includes a palm oil.

7. A fire initiator comprising: a substrate including a fire controlling composition, wherein said fire controlling composition includes a fire enhancer content of l0%-60%.

8. A fire initiator comprising: a substrate including a fire controlling composition, wherein said fire controlling composition includes a fire controller content of 30%-90%.

9. The fire initiator of claim 1, wherein said fire enhancer is a material selected from the group consisting of: a combustible hydrocarbon liquid, paraffin, lamp oil, whale oil, Animal fat oil, olive oil, seal oil, oil extracted from oil shale, oil from bitumen, kerosene, coal tar, oil from asphaltum, oil from albertite, oil from torbanite, oil from bituminous coal, a combustible material comprised of carbon chains substantially containing between 10 and 16 carbon atoms per molecule and a low sulfur combustible material derived from petroleum.

10. The fire initiator of claim 1, wherein said fire controller is a material selected from the group consisting of: a vegetable oil, a coconut oil, a palm oil and a vegetable oil.

11. The fire initiator of claim 1, further comprising a combustion aid.

12. The fire initiator of claim 11, wherein said combustion aid includes at least four materials selected from the group consisting of: a Soybean oil, a Phosphatidylinositol, a Phosphatidylcholine, a Phosphatidylethanolamine, at least one other phosphatide, a free carbohydrate, a Sterol and a moisture component.

FIELD AND BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a fire initiator readily initiating a fire. More specifically, the present invention relates to safe effective fire initiators.

The ability to initiate a fire safely and readily has remained substantially unobtainable by systems known in the art.

By way of a non-limiting example only, gasoline, flints, matches, liquid fire starters and solid fire starters have been used to initiate fire since the dawn of mankind, but with some of the materials and techniques, it can drag on for what seems like forever. Others have proven highly dangerous and/or toxic.

Gasoline is well known in the art for its flammable properties. Nevertheless, the rapid spreading of fire initiated with Gasoline and the loss of control over such fires is well known in the art, as well as the unwarranted hazards in the use thereof.

Conversely, the difficulty in fire initiation utilizing flint stoned, focusing a lens, fire striker and char cloth (if available), hand drill, bow drill, fire saw, fire plow and spark generators have proven to be slow, often ineffective.

Several attempts have been made to overcome the latent drawbacks and deficiencies of the fire initiators known in the art.

Hexamine fuel tablets have been also used. Invariably, Hexamine is prepared by the reaction of formaldehyde and ammonia which is both hazardous in manufacture and in use. Hexamine tablets are also sensitive to wind and dampness as well as expensive and not as widely available compared to alternatives such as Gasoline.

Moreover, combustion of Hexamine tablets can create formaldehyde, ammonia, nitrogen oxide, hydrogen cyanide and ingestion may cause nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal disturbances, and kidney damage. When burned, the chemical oxidation of Hexamine yields noxious fumes, requiring foods being cooked to be contained in a receptacle such as a pot or pan with a tight fitting lid. Burned tablets also leave a sticky dark residue on the bottom of pots and pans.

Therefore, there is an unmet need for, and it would be highly useful to have, a reliable, safe fire initiator for readily starting a fire. There is still a further unmet need for, and it would be highly useful to have, a fire starter with extended shelf life and/or no flammable properties until used as well as extended burning times in use.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is a fire initiator for readily and safely initiating a fire.

According to the present invention, there is provided a fire initiator including: (a) a substrate including: (i) at least one fire enhancer, and (ii) at least one fire controller.

According to further embodiments of the present invention, the substrate includes a fire controlling composition, wherein the fire controlling composition includes a fire enhancer content of l0%-60%.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The present invention is a fire initiator for rapidly and safely starting a fire.

Referring now to the drawings, Figure 1 shows a schematic view of a first embodiment of a fire initiator. As shown in Figure 1, a fire initiator 10 preferably includes a substrate 12.

Preferably, substrate 12 includes or is integrally formed in a geometric shape selected from the group consisting of a towel, a towelette, a baby wipe, a piece of paper, a piece of cloth, air-laid paper, a non-woven material, a spun-lace fabric, a woven material, a fabric, a textile, an o-shibori and a cloth.

Preferably, substrate 12 is impregnated with at least one fire enhancer 14 and at least one fire controller 16 for readily increasing burn times as well as readily facilitating reliable ignition of fire initiator 10.

Preferably, substrate 12 is impregnated with at least one fire enhancer 14 and at least one fire controller 16 for readily increasing burn times as well as readily facilitating reliable ignition of fire initiator 10 for a time substantially greater than 3 minutes.

Optionally, substrate 12 is impregnated with at least one fire enhancer 14 and at least one fire controller 16 for readily increasing burn times as well as readily facilitating reliable ignition of fire initiator 10 for a time substantially greater than 7 minutes.

Preferably, substrate 12 is impregnated with at least one fire enhancer 14 and at least one fire controller 16 for readily increasing burn times as well as readily facilitating reliable ignition of fire initiator 10 for a time substantially between 5-8 minutes.

Preferably, substrate 12 is made of at least 50%-90% viscose.

Preferably, substrate 12 is made of at substantially 75%-90% viscose. Preferably, substrate 12 is made of at substantially 80%-87% viscose.

Preferably, substrate 12 has a density of 60-200 GSM. Preferably, substrate 12 has a density of 70-100 GSM.

As shown in Figure 2, substrate 12 is preferably folded and put in a pocket size package 18. Preferably, package 18 is substantially fire retarded, thus substantially preventing inadvertent ignition of fire initiator 10 and preventing fire initiator 10 from catching fire when not in use or in storage.

Preferably, package 18 includes a seal 20 for readily preventing leakage of fire enhancer 14 of Figure 1 out of package 18 and/or entry of contaminants and/or moisture into package 18.

Preferably, package 18 includes a seal 20 for readily preventing leakage of fire controller 16 of Figure 1 out of package 18 and/or entry of contaminants and/or moisture into package 18.

Preferably, seal 20 is geared towards rendering package 18 water tight and/or air tight.

Preferably, substrate 12 includes a fire enhancer composition 22. In one preferred embodiment, fire enhancer composition 22 includes fire enhancer 14 content of 10% -60% (all % values hereinunder are provided on a weight (w/w) basis) a fire controller 16 content of 30%-90%.

Preferably, fire enhancer 14 is a low sulfur fire enhancer 14.

Preferably, fire enhancer 14 includes a combustible gel 24. Preferably, combustible gel 24 includes a polymer selected from the group consisting of: a hydroxyethylcellulose polymer, a cabopol polymer, and a cellosize polymer.

As shown in Table 1, fire enhancer 14 preferably includes at least one fire enhancer composition 22.

Preferably, fire enhancer composition 22 substantially includes 20%- 40% Kerosene.

Preferably, fire enhancer composition 22 substantially includes 2%- 10% Ethanol.

Preferably, at least one fire controller 16 substantially includes 0-3% Coconut oil.

Preferably, at least one fire controller 16 substantially includes 50- 70% Palm oil.

Preferably, fire initiator 10 includes 0-5% other ingredients, including perfume, fragrance and/or aromatic oil.

As shown in Table 2, fire enhancer 14 preferably includes at least one fire enhancer composition 22.

Preferably, fire enhancer composition 22 substantially includes 15%- 20% Kerosene D-60.

Preferably, fire enhancer composition 22 substantially includes 10%- 20% Kerosene D-100.

Preferably, at least one fire controller 16 substantially includes 1-3% Pine oil.

Preferably, at least one fire controller 16 substantially includes 50- 70% Palm oil.

Preferably, fire initiator 10 includes 2-3% other ingredients, including perfume and/or fragrance.

As shown in Table 3, fire enhancer 14 preferably includes at least one fire enhancer composition 22.

Preferably, fire enhancer composition 22 substantially includes 15%- 20% Kerosene D-60.

Preferably, fire enhancer composition 22 substantially includes 10%- 20% Kerosene D-100.

Preferably, at least one fire controller 16 substantially includes 1-3% Pine oil.

Preferably, at least one fire controller 16 substantially includes 50- 70% Palm oil.

Preferably, fire initiator 10 includes 2-3% other ingredients, including perfume and/or fragrance.

Preferably, fire initiator 10 includes substrate 12 folded and individually wrapped in package 18 for convenience.

The term "Fire enhancer" as used herein, shall include but will not be limited to a combustible hydrocarbon liquid, paraffin, lamp oil, whale oil, Animal fat oil, olive oil, seal oil, oil extracted from oil shale, oil from bitumen, kerosene, coal tar, oil from asphaltum, oil from albertite, oil from torbanite, oil from bituminous coal, Ethylene Glycol, Butonone, a combustible material comprised of carbon chains substantially containing between 10 and 16 carbon atoms per molecule and a low sulfur combustible material derived from petroleum.

The term "Fire controller" as used herein, shall include but will not be limited to a vegetable oil, a coconut oil, a palm oil, a vegetable oil, a quantity of margarine, a hydrogenated vegetable fat, a neem oil, an avocado oil and a rice bran oil.

The term "Combustion aid" as used herein, shall include but will not be limited to fatty substances occurring in animal and plant tissues, which are amphiphilic - they attract both water and fatty substances (and so are both hydrophilic and lipophilic), glycerophospholipids including phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylserine, and phosphatidic acid, a mixture of phospholipids in oil, Lecithin, soybean oil, sunflower lecithin, a composition including at least four materials selected from the group consisting of: a Soybean oil, a Phosphatidylinositol, a Phosphatidylcholine, a Phosphatidylethanolamine, at least one other phosphatide, a free carbohydrate, a Sterol and a moisture component, and a composition including at least six materials selected from the group consisting of: a Soybean oil, a Phosphatidylinositol, a Phosphatidylcholine, a Phosphatidylethanolamine, at least one other phosphatide, a free carbohydrate, a Sterol and a moisture component.

While the invention has been described with respect to a limited number of embodiments, it will be appreciated that many variations, modifications and other applications of the invention may be made.
