Abstract:
A fire extinguishing or preventing system 10 which has sensing means 12 and extinguishing means 14. The sensing means 12 is configured to sense a fire in an appliance 8, or an impending situation in an appliance 8 which could result in a fire. The extinguishing means 14 is arranged in communication with the sensing means 12 which extinguishing means 14 is configured to alter the sensed situation, upon sensing of an impending situation by the sensing means 12, in an attempt to extinguish the fire or to pre-emptively prevent a fire from igniting. The invention further provides for an appliance fitted with such a system 10.
